annual triathlon team for kids ages 7-15
Coached workouts
twice weekly - with experienced, FUN adult coaches
Goal Races - Team will go to 3-4 local races in the season (exact
races tbd)
Typical Race distances:
ages 7-10 (swim 100 yds, bike 3 miles, run .5 mile)
ages 11 and up (swim 200 yds, bike 6 miles, run 1 mile)
Team members will be perfectly prepared to race, and make friends
along the way!

Note
to Parents: your child should attend up to 2 weekly swim practices and 1 Sunday run or bike (or combo.
run/bike) practice per week, as follows:
Weekly SWIM Practice:

Juniors team members may attend up to 2 swim practices per week with Coach Lisa's Piranhas Swim Team
at the JCC Pool
5 swim practices offered per week
through April 28th (Sunday 1pm, Mon - Thurs 4:15pm ages 7-9, 5:00pm ages 10+). Come to any 2 practices
per week that fit your schedule (click here for printable swim practice schedules - also found on the "SWIM HOUSE" page of this website)
May swim practice times will change as follows - pick any at 2 locations: April 30th 7pm JCC, May
3rd 7pm Bella Mar, May 7th 7pm JCC, May 11th 4:30pm Bella Mar, May 14th 7pm JCC, May 18th 4:30pm Bella Mar
Weekly RUN/BIKE Practices:
Every Sunday starting March 4th through May 22nd (exceptions listed below for spring break and race
Sundays)
2:30 - 3:30pm ages 7-9, 3:30 - 4:30pm ages 10+ (unless otherwise
noted on practice schedule)
Locations and sport change each week (JCC,
Vandegrift H.S., Steiner Ranch various locations - see practice schedule for specific sport and location each week)
NO PRACTICE during spring break week (March 11-17)
No bike
or run practice on 3 race Sundays (races are in place of our practice on April 29th for Cedar Park Tri, May 13th for Ranger
Kids Tri, and May 20th for JCC I-Tri race).

For those that want more swimming than
once per week, sign up for BOTH the triathlon group AND the Piranhas youth swim group for a discounted combination
price. For information on the Piranhas Off-Season youth swim team (also at the JCC), go to the SWIM HOUSE page.
Team Minimum Requirements:
Participants
must be between the ages of 7-15 (as of March 4, 2012)
Participants must be able to swim
at least 50 meters continuously before program start date (front crawl required, backstroke a plus) , contact
Coach Lisa for a free evaluation of your child's swimming readiness for this group
Participants must be proficient and stable riding a 2-wheeled bicycle (including ability to start and stop without
assistance) - no training wheels allowed
Participants must be able to tie their own shoes
Equipment Requirements:
A functioning bike is required
for all bike workouts - NEW THIS YEAR: we are only riding on roads (no trails),
so a road or mountain bike is acceptable (we recommend a road bike for older kids that fit into an adult size frame).
An approved bike helmet that is properly fitted - not allowed to ride without it
A
Bathing suit - well fitted (one-piece for girls, jammers for boys recommended)
Fitted goggles
Proper athletic shoes (running shoe recommended) - must have laces, reinforced sole for impact (no Keds), and fit
the child
Locations to buy any equipment will be provided to registrants, with discounts
offered by our sponsors
Optional triathlon specific apparel will be recommended
along the way, with discounts available
