MEET THE COACH

Paul's love for cycling landed him his first bike shop job in Rockford, Illinois, where he began learning about bike mechanics. He soon moved to Prescott, Arizona where he advanced his mechanic ability under the guidance of a local shop owner. Paul started racing mountain bikes and received a grass roots sponsorship from K2.  He also started teaching his first Park Tool Mechanic classes and got involved in bicycle advocacy. Paul soon found another type of bike to ride, a road bike, and started riding miles on the road. Paul moved to New Mexico and started teaching bike mechanic classes at UNM, CNM and various businesses in town. He got involved in local cycling advocacy and the racing scene here in Albuquerque. Paul received his USA Cycling coaching license in 2007 and started training cyclists for races and century events through his own cycling training company, Southwest Cycling Specialists.  He is the current promoter for the Tuesday Night Crit series, and race director for the Jay Benson Triathlon and the Chase the Balloons ride.
